
Fr. Stephen Shin, OFM Cap., was born on November 27, 1962, in Seoul, South Korea. He was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Seoul in 1990 and served in various parishes and in a diocesan office.
In 1999, he began his studies at the Graduate School of Religion and Religious Education at Fordham University in New York, where he earned a Master’s degree in Religious Education in 2001 and a Doctorate in Religious Education in 2004.
After completing 17 years of service as a diocesan priest, he responded in 2007 to a new call from Jesus through the Blessed Virgin Mary and entered the Capuchin Franciscan Order of the St. Augustine Province in Pennsylvania, USA. He made his perpetual profession in 2012.
After his perpetual vows, he served as a hospital chaplain at Pinnacle Health in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and as pastor of St. Philip and St. James Parish in Meyersdale and St. Gregory Parish in Berlin, Pennsylvania.
On October 1, 2025, he was assigned as parochial vicar at St. John the Evangelist Church in Philadelphia, where he currently serves.
