Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time, July 14, 2024

Light the City

Mark your calendar. On Saturday, August 10, our young adults will be on the street in the evening, inviting passersby to come into the church to light a candle and to pray. We need street evangelizers, but we also need people just to be in the church at prayer when people respond to the invitation and enter our church. The prayer visitors need to see us at prayer. Please plan to spend August 10 evening in church and in prayer.

Summer Picnic

Our summer picnic was a great success. Thanks to all of our volunteers — cooks, shoppers, cleaners and those who set up and took down tables and chairs. There is a wonderful community spirit at Saint John’s and the picnic was a good experience of what makes Saint John’s a unique parish.

Secular Franciscans and Christ in the City

Christ in the City is a young adult Catholic missionary outreach to homeless people. Our local Christ in the City missionaries befriend homeless people who often lack friends and family support. Christ in the City missionaries serve a hot lunch every Wednesday and our Secular Franciscan “chefs” have committed to cook entrees every 4th Wednesday. Christ in the City missionaries have a great need for men’s clothing. If you bring gently used men’s clothing to the parish center, our Secular Franciscan brothers and sisters will assure that the clothing gets to needy men.

If you are able to help please contact Carolyn at (267) 881-8794.
