This week I have two new items and friendly reminders.

Thank you for your generous support of the Pontifical Mission Societies. The second collection last weekend yielded $1,991.00. Donations that came in before the Appeal amounted to $1,401.00. St. John’s was able to contribute $3,392.00 overall. Thank you! The Sisters of the Lovers of the Holy Cross of Hung Hoa were very pleased by the warm welcome and hospitality shown them by the parishioners of St. John’s and those who were visitors.

In next week’s bulletin there will be inserted the financial report for the fiscal year, 2021-2022. I am sure you will be pleased with what you will read. One advanced piece of news is that we balanced the budget for the seventh consecutive year.

Please note: The Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Mother is Monday, August 15th. It is a holy day, however, since the Solemnity falls on a Monday it is NOTa holy day of obligation. The Mass schedule remains the same: 7:45 am, 12:05 and 5:15 pm.

Farewell Mass. I wanted to let you know that I was finally able to organize and schedule my farewell Mass which will be Sunday, August 28th at the 10:30 am Mass. There will be a reception in the parish center immediately following. All are welcome.

For your information, I will also be having a farewell Mass at Holy Redeemer Chinese Church on Sunday, August 21st at 11:15 with a reception following. All are welcome.
