FAREWELL AND BEST WISHES
After much thought and prayer, Matt Cloran has decided to step down from weekly St. John Church cantoring to travel and pursue other music career interests. Matt will cantor his final Mass on Sunday, August 1st at 10:30 AM. We are grateful for his loyalty and commitment to the St. John Music Ministry especially during the pandemic. We will never forget his Godspell production at St. John Church and sharing his vocal talents every weekend leading us in prayerful song for the past thirty years.
We will miss you, Matt!
Joyful news for our province. Through God’s grace of invitation and the ministry of Father Rafa, vocation director, our province has been blessed with 8 new postulants who have responded to God’s grace and ex-pressed their desire to become members of our province either as a brother or priest. They arrived at St. Padre Pio Friary in Frankford on Sunday, July 11th to begin their first year of formation and discernment; they were invested with the postulant habit (garb) on Wednesday, July 14th. This is joyful news for our province and the Capuchin Order as we are experiencing many men who are responding to our way of life in imitation of St. Francis of Assisi. Please keep these men in your prayers as well as our province.
Dispensation from attending Sunday and Holy Day Masses about to be lifted. The Bishops of Pennsylvania will reinstate the obligation to attend Mass on Sun-days and Holy Days beginning Sunday, August 15th.
Please do not forget St. John’s. It’s vacation time. If you are planning to be away from St. John’s, please remember to either mail in your weekly envelope or make up for the time you are away when you return. The bills still keep coming in. Thank you.
Leave a Legacy or Honor a Loved One. Please remember St. John the Evangelist in your will and estate planning. Memorial gifts to St. John’s perpetuate the memory of a loved one or honor a living person. Your thoughtfulness and support will enable the parish to continue its presence, ministry, and service to the larger community.
