From The Pastor's Desk

26 June, 2021

I have a few reminders for you this week.

It’s a new day and a sense of freedom! A friendly reminder that as of June 11, the Archdiocese has followed Mayor Kenney’s instructions that masks and face coverings are now lifted, however, if you prefer to wear a mask or covering that is your option. Social distancing is also lifted. Please note: if you are not vaccinated, you are encouraged to wear a mask or face covering.

Additionally, the use of hymnals is allowed. Please pick up a Breaking Bread hymnal in the back of the church and participate in the singing.Holy water is now in the fonts.

We are back to square one regarding getting proposals on the repair of the beams in the basement under the courtyard and the resurfacing of the court-yard. We have had five engineers and construction companies survey the project, all promised a proposal, all have withdrawn believing the project is beyond what they are able to do.

Leave a Legacy or Honor a Loved One. Please remember St. John the Evangelist in your will and estate planning. Memorial gifts to St. John’s perpetuate the memory of a loved one or honor a living person. Your thoughtfulness and support will enable the parish to continue its presence, ministry, and service to the larger community.

Thank you for all you do for our parish and for your commitment to ensure that St. John’s is “Good News in the Heart of Philadelphia.”

Peace and God’s blessings!
Father John
