I thought I would begin my column with an inspiring Christmas message from Sigrid Undset
And when we give each other Christmas gifts in His name, let us remember that He has given us the sun and the moon and the stars, and the earth with its forests and mountains and oceans and all that lives and moves upon them. He has given us all green things and everything that blossoms and bears fruit and all that we quarrel about and all that we have misused and to save us from our own foolishness, from all our sins, He came down to earth and gave us Himself. (Sigrid Undset)
We are now live streaming the 10:30 am Sunday Mass. Thanks to all who have contributed to the fund that has enabled us to do this. Thanks to parishioner, Abraham Amit, St. John’s IT teach expert who has worked tirelessly to make this possible.
Due to the increase of COVID 19 and the few numbers of persons attending the 1:05 Mass, the decision was made to suspend that Mass until the end of January.
As you are aware we are nearing the end of 2020. In your thinking about gifts for family and friends, I ask that you consider making a Year-End financial gift to St. John’s. Here are several suggestions where you might designate your donation:
Historical Endowment Fund
Debt Reduction effort
Last Wednesday a parishioner who wishes to remain anonymous handed me a check in the amount of $45,000 as a Year-end donation. Let’s remember that person in our prayers for their generosity and commitment to St. John’s
Historical Preservation Endowment Fund$430,626.65
Thank you for all you do for our parish and for your commitment to ensure that St. John’s is “Good News in the Heart of Philadelphia.” Stay safe and healthy. Peace and God’s blessings at Christmas and in the New Year!
