I have a variety of items to pass on to you this week, some of which are new and others are updates.
Reinstating the 1:05 Mass begins on Monday, November 29th.
Thank you for your generous support of the Appeal for St. Charles Borromeo Seminary. The amount contributed came to $711.00.
Welcome Father Joseph Lei Jin who will be in residence here at St. John’s. Father Jin is a diocesan priest and is originally from Shanghai, China. In addition to studying English, he will be involved in serving the pastoral needs of the Chinese community at Holy Redeemer.
Debt reduction donation boxes in the upper and lower churches yielded $921.00. Thanks to all who made contributions toward this effort; we are currently at $806,036.00.
I reported to you last week about the vandalismthat occurred here at St. John’s and also that we experienced three areas on the South side of the church where we had roof leaks. Unfortunately, our insurance will not cover either of the issues. Why? Our deductible is $5,000.00; the repairs for each of the issues were under that amount.
Live streaming will RESUME very soon. Because of donations, we have been able to begin purchasing the equipment we need to resume live steaming the 10:30 Mass. Our financial need at this time is $1,025.
Holy Water will soon be available in the lower church in the container near the confessional. The reason for the delay is that the container was in need of repairs. You may fill your own containers and take the holy water home. Holy water is still not allowed in the fonts.
Historical Preservation Endowment Fund $429,999.45
Thank you for all you do for our parish and for your commitment to ensure that St. John’s is “Good News in the Heart of Philadelphia.” Stay safe and healthy.
Peace and God’s blessings,
Fr. John Daya
